2015 Reflections from Lady Magpies Coach Christina Licata

Lady Magpies 2015

2015 started off in a whirlwind as the Lady Magpies took home the Pre-Season AFL Canada Cup in May. Boosting greater numbers and experience, the Lady Magpies continued our success with wins over Boston, Baltimore, and Minnesota throughout the season. After an historic season of footy with a 12 – 2 record, the we came up just short placing second at Nationals. With a hard loss to Denver in the second game of the weekend, the Pies fought their way back to defeat Minnesota – securing our second place spot – in arguably some of the best women’s footy that the US has seen thus far.

With over 30 women strapping on their boots for the club, the Pies gelled as a team in 2015 and proved that side by side we could rise to the challenge. Our success was truly a team effort with 16 different goal kickers on the season from veterans and rookies alike. The Lady Magpies are looking forward to building on our success in 2016 – a year we hope to claim as the Year of the Lady Pies!
